PostHeaderIcon Top 3 Food Myths Debunked

Such a nice article to read in the morning… wanna share this to you:

1. Margarine contains less fat than butter
Actually, both contain similar amounts of fat, just different types. Margarine contains harmful transfats that can raise cholesterol levels whereas butter has saturated fat, which can lead to heart disease. Either one you choose, it’s best to only have a little.

2. Low-fat products are always healthier
With some foods, such as meat, you can be sure that the less fat they have, the better. But some foods labeled “low-fat” won’t necessarily be low in energy and will replace the fat with other ingredients, sometimes ending up with an even higher calorie content.

3. Red wine is good for you
In moderation, alcohol appears to be good for the heart. Thanks to its alcohol content, antioxidants and polyphenols, red wine has been shown to help prevent formation of blood clots and reduce the risk of heart disease. But if you have more than the recommended one drink per day the benefits are lost and health risks go up.

We always have red wine at home. The husband and I do drink one glass per day. It’s so nice.
