For a healthier eyes

Eye check-up was one of the plans of the husband during his short visit to Manila three weeks ago. And after seeing an ophthalmologist, he was advised to wear reading eyeglasses. So we scout on various eyewear shop and found different types even a bifocal safety glasses, which I’m seeing the first time. And after searching for a nice eyeglass, he was able to get one for himself. This eye check-up prompted me to search for healthy foods that is best for the eyes. I’m sure we have included this with our daily food but being aware is important so we know we’re taking the right and healthy meal.

The following are the four most powerful eye foods:

(1) Berries
These contain natural plan chemicals called flavonoids that paly an important part in the protection of the most sensitive areas of the eye.

(2) Tuna
Tuna and other oily fish, such as salmon and mackerel, are rich in omega-3 which research has shown to protect the macula lutea – the area of the eye effected by macular degeneration.

(3) Sweet Potato
Sweet potatoes are a great source of vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene) which is essential for healthy eyes.

(4) Carrots
Carrots contain high levels of vitamin A (one medium sized carrot provides up to ten times the RDA) which protects the eyes and enables them to function effectively.

The addition of the above foods into our diet are beneficial to our eyesight both in short and long term. So as much as possible let’s try to include on our daily food serving for a healthier and longer eyesight. ;)
