PostHeaderIcon Shakey’s Pasta

Food Friday

For today’s food Friday, I’ll show you 2 pasta from Shakey’s Pizza HK, where we had our dinner last Saturday.

The first one is my favorite so far, but unfortunately I don’t know the exact name, hahaha…. it’s like a vegetable pasta.. sort of a mushroom pesto.

The second is spaghetti and I’m guessing the name is Spaghetti Pescatora… :) not sure about this I just have a look at their mini brochure, which I have right now but no picture of this, hihi…

So there you have it… I will ask the husband if we can have another visit at Shakey’s soon so I can try their yummy pasta again and make sure to know their names, hahaha….

Thanks for looking! Happy Wekeend to all!

PostHeaderIcon Present Perfect

I happened to see an old food magazine (dec 2007-jan 2008 issue) in which the topic mostly focus on holiday foods… Though an old issue, I still browsed the pages and I’m glad I did. Aside from different festive food ideas, I found great ways to put a little something extra for any delicacies or homemade treats that will be given as holiday presents. It has the creativity and personal touch. It reflects the giver’s good taste as well… :) Reminded me of the personalized chocolate I made last year. And for the coming holidays, I’m still thinking of what to prepare and this old magazine gave me somehow an inspiration.

I guess very timing that I stumbled on a range of this cardboard display site. Because they have the custom packaging like the photo below where we can use to pack a sweet treats to give as presents too.

With added ribbon on it, that will make a present perfect. Just love this idea. ;)

PostHeaderIcon Lasang Pinoy Sundays: STRAWBERRIES

Lasang Pinoy Sundays

My first time to join Lasang Pinoy meme. And I think a good timing for this week’s theme since I have this photo, which I took last Saturday from the birthday party we attended though a little blurred and noisy… :)

This was the Car cake of the celebrant full of strawberries at the side…

This cake has mango filling that was really yummy. My son loves it and most especially the strawberry. He even finished my share, hahaha….

Thanks for looking! Have a beautiful week ahead :)

PostHeaderIcon Halloween Sweet Treats

Because Halloween festive is around the corner, I didn’t see any artificial christmas trees being sold at the mall yet. But I’m sure once November steps in, there will be lots of holiday decors around the malls and small stores. I’m even excited to décor our house too, haha…

At the meantime, since my son will have their Halloween activities by end of this month I was thinking of some goodies to give to his friends. But when I saw these Halloween cupcakes, I’d like to do some baking, hahaha

hmmm…. yummyness! Looks like it’s nice to just buy some rather than bake, hahaha!

Another option is to bake some cookies and cut it into spooky characters like this:

Nice huh! ;)

Anyway, I might end up buying assorted candies for the kids then wrap it individually for them, hahaha… :)

PostHeaderIcon Shrimp with Sweet Chili sauce

Food Friday

I don’t have plan of cooking this food last night but I wasn’t able to buy the vegetable that I wanted to mix with the shrimps. So last minute decision- I cooked it the simple way and I’m glad it turned out great… :)

Shrimps with Sweet chili sauce

The procedure is like the simple way of cooking shrimps, halabos na hipon. Once the liquid of the shrimps was almost evaporated, I added the sweet chili sauce. The sauce enhances the flavor and smells really yummy… :) Try it!

PostHeaderIcon More wishes…

Apart from wishing a new gadget for Christmas, I ‘m hoping for new kitchen utensils too… I was browsing again the Ikea Catalog that was delivered to us and taking note those items that I’d like to have. But among the products on my list, the husband agreed on this grilling pan, which is really good and what we needed.

But because it’s a bit pricey, I’m not sure if hubby will still be interested. I remember he said that we’re going to save whatever bonus he will have at the end of the year, if there’s any :) … plus we have plan of making additional investment for next year. Not sure though if it’s addition to existing one or we might try other type like gold investment or any precious metals investment. However we need to learn and be aware of the advantages and disadvantages with this kind of venture. Good thing there’s the company like Monex , wherein we can read related articles from their site and check investors feedback as well. That will be a great help in weighing different possibilities.

So at this time since no assurance if we can buy new kitchen stuff, I will still keep my list and who knows Santa may still grant one or two wishes, :)

PostHeaderIcon Fish Fritters

My sister brought us “bangus” fillet when she came here 2 weeks ago… it was actually my cousin who gave it for us. There were 2 sets: one set mixed already which I’ve made like a spring roll and the other set was strips of fillet. And I cooked it as fritters… :)

I remember I cooked cheesy salmon fritters before, which is still a hit and favorite of my son. But the one above same procedure but different kind of fish… And just the same, my little boy loves it… :)

PostHeaderIcon Assorted Polvoron

I could say we’ve been overload with Pinoy goodies last September. And most of them were sweet delicacies. That’s why this month I started to lessen my sweet intake otherwise I’ll plunge to any pills for fast weight loss. I really noticed the weight I gained from the previous months hence diet is on my priority list now… Anyway let me show you one of my favorite pinoy goodies- the Assorted Polvoron.

assorted polvoron

I loooveee this!!! :) and my favorites are Cashew and Cookies n’Cream. However my boys (hubby and son) doesn’t like this much. So it’s me who always take one. Then when my sister came, we have another box. I remember my son commented, “Mommy you have another box to go..” hahahaha! Yeah he knows I like it. And whenever a friend coming over and ask what to bring… you know my answer: a box of Goldilocks Pulvoron can make me happy, LOL!

PostHeaderIcon Green Tea

green tea

If I love coffee the husband on the other hand likes green tea as his morning drink. We usually buy the green tea from Japan and taste really nice. Among the teas that I have tried already, that green tea is one of my favorites. Luckily I found an online store by the name Art of Tea that sells organic and specialty teas and among their products is the green tea.

I was able to browse their site and they have almost all the types of teas including caffeine free blends. As I look at each photo, I’m thinking that it’s nice if I could taste it as well, haha! Well, I learned that there’s an Art of Tea coupons available where I could get a 15% off with every order of $50 or more. That would be a great deal especially for new customer like me and that I can taste their specialty teas. Well I guess better to inform the husband right away and I’m sure he would love to try this too… And for those tea lovers out there, you may want to try and avail this great promo from Art of Tea… the coupons will be good until October 31 only… :)

PostHeaderIcon Mooncake

Food Friday

It’s the season of mooncake here in Hongkong. Well actually last Saturday was the Mid-atumn Festival. We don’t really buy mooncakes unless my son needs to bring in school for their Mid-Autumn activities but this year they’re not required. And how come we have a mooncake? :) This one coming from the husband’s office and that’s why we don’t buy any mooncake because yearly they’re given at the office.

Mooncakes are Chinese pastries traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival / Zhongqiu Festival. The festival is for lunar worship and moon watching; moon cakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy on this occasion. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival, one of the three most important Chinese festivals.

mooncake mooncake

Honestly I don’t like the taste of mooncake. Well I eat the crust but not the filling. There are actually different types of filling but still I don’t eat it, hahaha. There’s also a snowy kind of mooncake and they said it taste good. The husband was able to try one in Durian flavor, ;) his favorite and yes the smell remains, hehehe…

Ok, that’s it… my Food friday entry… Thanks for looking! Happy Wekeend to all!
