The weather is getting hot and indeed summer is coming soon. And that makes me crave for that halo-halo :)

Halo-halo (from Tagalog word halo, “mix”) is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served cold in a tall glass or bowl. There is no specific recipe for this dessert, and a wide variety of ingredients are used. The order in which the ingredients are added varies widely.

Yesterday when Migs and I went to World Wide Center, the place where most of the Filipino stores, I was looking if there’s a store serving that dessert but unfortunately I didn’t find one. My son asked for an ice cream instead but I didn’t give in to his request due to his cough. I’m not sure if we can do that at home but I might ask the husband to make a leche flan, hahaha… I thought of that after I saw the leche flan on top of the halo-halo, LOL!

Well, I’m in the mood blogging today so after I checked on life insurance quotes, I’ll be back here to show some more foodie stuff… Ciao!

  • Wow! nice to hear that you want to try this delicious treat! i just want to share that i’ve tried halo-halo last year when a filipino friend of mine made this one and let me taste it. It is so yummy! you must try it. Complete with fruits, leche flan, Ube, ice cream, and lots of different stuffs i wish i could find on the supermarket. I might try looking at the Filipino market for the ingredients. I love it.
